ABOUT

Introduction to the African Lives in Northern England Project

The African Lives in Northern England Project undertaken in 2020-2023 by a fluid team of 17 volunteers has been a journey. We have learnt together about brilliant and resilient people of African heritage, about racism and about the careful use of language.

We have shared this learning in three calendars (one forthcoming), one booklet, online school resources and online Newcastle Walks. We have been assisted by many individuals and organisations and thank them all.

We look forward to you accompanying us on this journey of appreciating the diversity of our region, and of countering racism.
